Welcome Homes, Part 2

It's Thursday night. We're all tucked away in our rooms. There is only the sound of the Thai cicadas to be heard.  It is peaceful. We are peaceful.

We've had a chance to catch up on our blog post writing.  On Wednesday morning, we headed back to our job site for a project called, Welcome Homes.  You will read in Jeannie's post that the morning was really worthwhile!

Today was our second day of working on our home and we were definitely more prepared than the previous day. We knew how to make the cement and how to plaster it on the walls so it was definitely more productive than our first day on the site. Once again, the heat was pretty brutal and we found ourselves sweating profusely even when we weren’t doing any work. However, we were MUCH more prepared for the heat this time around and made sure to pack lots of water and electrolyte packets. If we didn’t know for who or why we were building this house, it probably would have been a lot harder to persevere through the heat and hard work. We have one more day to work on the house and I think we will all be eager to see how much work we can finish up in one day. The Thai engineers at the site have been really supportive and helpful with fixing some of our amateur work along the way. Overall, we are all very excited and eager to help tomorrow with this special project.   ~Jeannie

This wall was nothing but cement block when we started on Monday morning. The engineers may have had a had in making the wall so smooth, but our work paved the way.
Experience paid off.  Everyone got right to the task of mixing cement and then finding a spot on an exterior wall.
We are all but through with this wall going into today's work session.
The back wall is our main project this morning.
