What Time is it Where You are?

Sorry for the late post. It's 10:00 p.m. on Monday night in Thailand. The house is quiet. The day has finally ended. Some say it feels like it has been one very long day since we left Detroit on Saturday, March 12.

Our adventure took us from Detroit to Boston. The trip was uneventful. We arrived with time enough to get some frozen yogurt. When it was finally our turn to board the flight from Boston to Dubai, it seemed that we were the last ones left in the gate area.  We soon learned that we were seated in the furthest section of this enormous plane! And much to our surprise, we were seated in a way that put a few empty seats between the weary travelers (oh, wait, we weren't weary yet).
There was plenty to eat and drink, and a variety of movies and tv shows to watch. We occupied three rows in the center of the plane and three rows along the side - that's 21 seats for 14 people.
After 12 hours, 2 full meals, snack service, drink service and several movies. the travelers reached Dubai, local time, 7:35 p.m. Sunday (you were still reading the Sunday morning paper at home).
The Dubai International Airport was a hub of activity. We had three hours of exploration ahead of us.
Just in case you need a shower in transit. The Dubai airport has it all!
You can sit and listen to the waterfall as you catch up on world news on the giant screen.
The Seafood Bar was just one of many unique and extravagant places to stop with in the departure gates.
After the wonderful Emirates experience on the way to Dubai, the six-hour flight from Dubai to Bangkok seemed just a bit ordinary. This plane carried over 500 people to Bangkok, on one of five full daily flights between the two cities. That's a lot of people. This overnight flight in a double-decker plane took just over 5 hours. The group could begin to feel the possibility that they would be arriving in Udon Thani very soon.
The sunrise on approach to Bangkok, Thailand!
The stairs heading to the upper deck. It was so mysterious, with no opportunity to even get a quick peak.
The 7:35 a.m. arrival time in Bangkok on Monday morning meant that our friends and family were at home, enjoying a late dinner or maybe watching a little television (on Sunday night).
